April 2021 – PotPunks, NFT’s new digital collection project, today announced the launch of Phase 1, which will feature 69 digital characters inspired by the diverse world of cannabis enthusiasts and hobbyists. In addition to celebrating the world of cannabis, PotPunks is taking it a step further by partnering with Mission Green Project, a charity founded by reform advocate Weldon Angelos. Angelos and Project Green Mission have deep ties to the world of entertainment and politics and have been behind some of the most sensational drug reforms and pardon laws of the past decade.
PotPunks is not only a great way to celebrate the cannabis community, but also to highlight our commitment to long-term advocacy and continued innovation in how we communicate the importance of this mission, Angelos said. I have worked with the administrations of Obama, Trump and Biden, as well as artists like Snoop Dogg, Ty Dolla $ign and Alicia Keys to fight the injustice of drug prohibition. By partnering with Potpunks, our mission can reach a whole new sector of activists who understand how blockchain, cryptocurrencies, and NFTs can also play an important role in supporting needed reform.
The team launched the Potpunks project as a tribute to the original CryptoPunks, in response to the evolution of the NFT world and the promise it holds for the cannabis world. Each time PotPunk is sold, a portion of the proceeds are transferred to the Weldon Project to support cannabis reform through a smart contract on the Ethereum network.
NFTs (Non-fungible tokens) are unique digital elements whose ownership is confirmed on the blockchain. The use of NFT includes digital art, collectibles, game items, etc.
The explosive popularity of NTFs has brought well-known celebrities, athletes and investors into the market, including Tom Brady, Mark Cuban and Snoop Dogg, who have started their own NTFs or invested in space-focused companies.
